Consequences of the EU-legislation recast of the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) on Closed-Loop Supply Chain Management

The EU-legislation for handling e-waste is currently changing (http://www.europarl.europa.eu or http://www.recyclingportal.eu). It is therefore very likely that in the near future retailers will be responsible for the take back of used products in their shops or directly at the customer. In this thesis you have to analyze how this new legislation will affect the Closed-Loop Supply Chain (CLSC) management in the EU. Is this new regulation an advantage or disadvantage for Reverse Logistic Service Providers? What does this mean for the acquisition process of the used products? Is the outsourcing of the new retailer responsibility an important new business field for CLSCs?
